TO THE BONE

jeans worn to the bone
trail behind
me, discarded remains
mapping the way
from life to after
life to void
images of flashing slabs
with shimmering names
caught in headlights
along with the spirit of
the rabbit that runs
lost and needing
a beacon signals
from beyond the frame
of peace and solace
found within the witching hour

WATCHING HER

leaning over
her dress rides up
revealing garter straps on curves
peeks of cotton pink with lace
sheen of hose from toe to thigh
satin contact summons wildness
from the touch upon her body
wrapped all over like menthol cloth
on fresh shaved legs
slides tickling breeze
scent of berries in her hair
spilling orchards to distract
her smiles from
her worn down thoughts
washed away with
yesterday's stress
in steaming rainfall that draws
the grind
becoming revival of the soul
as stiff sore muscles
shake off chains
down the drain
in spiral exit
all the poison - of one day
by her window
an ashtray filled
displaying a plumes of rising smoke
while moonbeams bounce
from milk white limbs
her face returns
in dabs and strokes
high heels lift her calves
to sexy
magnetic "fuck me"
in that arch
ready and aimed
she grabs her purse
and hits the nightlife
for the hunt

BREAD OF PIGS

Looking inside
everything
with what I think are X-ray eyes
finding flaws
and evidence of
where I've been double crossed.
A laughing hierarchy of pigs,
preoccupation blinds them;
surveillance penetrates
the barrier through
which they bait their victims.
Well put lies posing as
promises squeal from empty throats.
Worms thrive in
the bread they bake, gnawing
the bellies
of customers unwary.
I try to starve.

Eric Harrison is a chain smoker who likes to fish and who takes his artwork very seriously. He strives to capture his vision by choosing the right media to express each thought or perception. The bulk of his creative work is that of a moody musician, painter, illustrator and poet. Much of what he does represents misanthropic depression and the darker, uglier aspects of the human psyche as well as the delusions that preoccupy his excessively paranoid mind. Some of his music, song lyrics and visual arts appear on CD's produced by his own and several other underground bands. Many of which have been sold and distributed worldwide. His most recent written work appears in The Rockzillaworld Americana Poetry Cosortium and the Third Lung Review Issue #32. When he isn't "being an artist" (and quite often when he is) Eric spends time alone or with his dog and is usually found brooding over paranoid theories or wandering the woods and salt marsh near his home in Lynn, Ma.
